Philips Respironics Everflo Home Oxygen Concentrator Review - Features, Benefits

Philips Respironics Everflo Oxygen Concentrator

The Philips Respironics Everflo Oxygen Concentrator is one of the quietest home oxygen units available. Compared to other units, the Everflo offers a lightweight, compact design and high-tech features making it one of the best home oxygen concentrators at an affordable price.

Note: This article is not about the Philips Respironics Everflo Q, which has been discontinued.

Benefits of Using the Everflo Oxygen Concentrator

The Philips Respironics Everflo uses an oxygen percentage indicator (OPI) to maintain consistent and accurate oxygen levels. Most models operate between 87-96% oxygen purity, but when oxygen purity dips below 82%, your unit will sound an alarm ensuring you stay notified.

Another benefit of the Everflo is the reduced power consumption than its predecessor, the Everflo Q. For users who require constant oxygen therapy, the Philips Respironics Everflo does not draw as much power as some other models. Additionally, the Everflo is quiet, operating at about the same volume as a refrigerator.

Respironics Everflo Oxygen Concentrator Design

The Everflo features a simple, yet rugged design. A simple user interface allows patients to easily change oxygen flow settings or check operational status. The cabinet includes a removeable compartment for accessory storage, as well as the ability to attach an optional humidifier bottle.

Maintenance for the Everflo

The Philips Respironics Everflo includes two filters: the cabinet filter, and the air intake filter. The air intake filter requires replacement every two years. The cabinet filter should be inspected regularly for cracks or damage and replaced approximately every three months. The Everflo cabinet filter can be hand washed with warm water and soap and must be air dried completely before being reinstalled.

Everflo Oxygen Concentrator Noise Level

As shown above, the Philips Respironics Everflo operates around the same noise level as other, similar products. An operating volume of approximately 45 dBA is roughly as loud as a refrigerator.

Flow Settings for the Philips Respironics Everflo

The Everflo delivers oxygen continuously in half-liter increments. The lowest oxygen setting is 0.5 LPM and the highest oxygen setting is 5.0 LPM. Do not change oxygen flow settings before consulting with your doctor.

Everflo Operating Altitude

The Philips Respironics Everflo can operate at elevations of 7,500 ft. Again, if planning on traveling to a higher elevation, consult your doctor to see if your oxygen settings need to change.

Everflo Oxygen Purity Level

The Philips Respironics Everflo maintains between 87-96% oxygen purity. The OPI (oxygen percentage indicator) will alert users when oxygen dips below 82% (Low Oxygen) and 70% (Very Low Oxygen).

Ease of Use of the Everflo Oxygen Concentrator

The Philips Respironics Everflo is user-friendly, with a simple on/off switch and a flow control knob to adjust settings. LED indicators help alert users of operational status and a built-in shelf allows users to easily connect an optional humidifier bottle.
